Abstract
The zoos and aquaria of the world, together with a number of other institutions with important animal collections, such as universities and bird parks, are listed alphabetically under the towns in which they are situated; the towns, in turn, are listed alphabetically under their country and, in the case of American and Canadian zoos, under their state as well. In order to save space, information that remains the same from year to year (eg. details of educational facilities) has been excluded. This information can be found in the zoo list of Volume III of the Yearbook. Zoos which have returned the Yearbook questionnaires for the first time are listed in full. These ‘new’ zoos have been marked with an asterisk, thus“. Where zoos have returned questionnaires in the past, but have failed to do so in 1965, this has been noted in the entry of the zoo concerned. Unless otherwise indicated, figures for staff and animals relate to 31.12.1964.
